Autumn Fun

Submitted on November 2nd, 2008 by Sean

Sean doesn’t write anymore and I’m not much of a blogger but we have to post our latest pictures!

We’ve been very busy, going to friends in Virginia, visiting science museums, enjoying the “famous” North Carolina State Fair and celebrating Halloween!

Maeli didn’t enjoy wearing a costume or cared very much about the whole Halloween celebration, still too young but it was still a fun evening.

Anyway, here are the latest pictures, some were taken two nights ago!

Bad Sean!!!

Submitted on May 5th, 2008 by Sean

No blog!

But here are some pictures!  (will Blog later!)  ENJOY

Because of the risk of sicko’s….a few photo’s were removed this morning that contained naked baby pics.  The tub pics remain as the baby privates are concealed….however, the frontal and rear Maeli pics were removed due to the risk of pervs and the pervert police.  Grandparents may email me to receive future bribery material!!!

Bushnell or Bust!

Submitted on February 27th, 2008 by Sean

Well the French-American Gleason’s packed up last week for our journey to the frigid American mid-west!  We departed Thursday morning for Chicago O’Hare airport to meet cousin Megan and Uncle Dave.  Both of whom have never met Miss Maeli.  Well, we packed light…..for ourselves but once we added the Pac-n-play and all other necessary baby items……we were quite loaded.  We travelled without incident and to our shock, without delay to O’Hare.  I know, you’re thinking I made this up there must have been a delay but no, Chicago received us on time!  So we hit the cell phone on the tarmac and Meg and Dave had our rental van equip with baby seat ready outside baggage claim.  We meeted and greeted……then grunted and groaned in 20-degree weather installing the stupid baby seat.  Finally, with seat properly installed, we left for the 4-hour+ drive to Bushnell and the Grandparents.

Maeli birthday party

Submitted on February 14th, 2008 by Sean

Finally, we had Maeli’s first birthday party! Her birthday was on the 31st of January but we only managed her party on the 9th of Feb… Our little one decided to be sick on the eve of her party, so we had to reschedule.

I was not as organized as the week before. I didn’t do anything on Friday, apart from her cake, and when I got up on Saturday, I still didn’t panic. People were arriving at 11am and only when 10:30 came and I wasn’t showered or the baby dressed, did I start running around like a headless chicken. I think my husband was actually playing “Scrabulous” on Facebook that morning…

It all worked out, everyone came and everybody was super generous as usual. I did specify “no gifts” on the invitation but got laughed at on several occasions. Maeli had a good time, danced when everyone sang happy birthday and blew her little candles with Josh, Nate and Chloe’s help: very cute!

First Birthday Party

By the way, in case you were wondering, this is Steph writing!

Lot’s of “first’s” for Maeli!!!

Submitted on February 8th, 2008 by Sean

For instance last Thursday, January 31, was Maeli’s first Birthday. The following Saturday was to be her first Birthday Party….but that was thwarted by her first sickness!!! That’s right, it was Thursday night about 10pm and we were just putting our books down and going to bed (yes, I read thank you very much). Through the baby monitor, we heard Maeli cough and make some noise. At night, she often makes noise in bed but usually she just continues to sleep…..but our parent alarms were going off with this one….the cough just wasn’t the same. I can’t describe what was different but Mom knew something was wrong. I think parents get a “Spider Sense” just like Spiderman did when something was wrong….and our spider sense was tingling!

They are EVERYWHERE!

Submitted on January 21st, 2008 by Sean

Bilingual families is what I am talking about!  It is strange that you don’t really notice these things until you are a part of the culture.  It happens with other things too…..like riding a motorcycle.  Unless you have had a motorcycle or know someone VERY well that does, you are not likely to notice all the waves, head nods, thumbs-up and other greetings that bikers do with one another.  Same goes for truckers……heck, even being married or being a parent has it’s sub-culture.  Any husband that has ever held a purse while entertaining a 1-year old in the Gap, knows what I’m talking about.  When we see another guy in the same situation…..we give that little smirk and head nod that says “yeah, I know where you’re at buddy….hang in there!”.  I’m sure Mom’s have the same thing…..but I don’t notice….cause I’m not a Mom.  You never really notice all the details and examples of these sub-cultures until you become a part of them and just recently….I’ve noticed the bilingual culture.  Now don’t get me wrong, I struggle enough with my American-English that I won’t claim a second language for a LONG time….if ever.  Though I plan to “make a go of it” (that’s my British English) with my in-laws native French.  But just being around Steph speaking French with Maeli, you notice lot’s of people doing the same thing.  Just the past weeks since Christmas have given me these examples.

My Blog Guilt

Submitted on January 16th, 2008 by Sean

Ok, the blog has been empty for quite a while.  Slowly, I am starting to lose my base of 4-fans.  So with this start to the New Year, I will try to inject some spice back into our life’s commentary.  First let me explain my blog guilt.  I get personally attached to the different events that happen in our life that I want to blog about, and until I tell the story of the next one due…..I can’t skip it…..so I get stuck, like a skipping record.  This happened last year due to our second Outer Banks vacation.  I posted some pictures but never did blog about it, and that has stopped me from blogging about the next event….and so on!
